What is AllTray?
AllTray is a program you can use
on Unix-like systems such as
GNU/Linux or FreeBSD running the X
Window System to dock any application which doesn’t have a
native tray icon into the system tray/notification area.
AllTray works with many desktop environments and window
managers, including
Metacity
on GNOME,
KWin
on KDE
and OpenBox,
both standalone and with GNOME or KDE. The current
release of AllTray is 0.7.5dev, and can be
downloaded from
Launchpad; the most recent stable release is 0.70
and is also available at that location. For more on
AllTray’s history and current development plans, please
see the About page.
Work Continues!
Posted on March 22, 2013
After a relatively long period of not having time to work on AllTray, I have been able to start spending time on it again. I have more than a few bugs to respond to and fix, and am considering porting to GTK3 as that would be useful for e.g., support for Cinnamon.
Sorry about the lack of time on this lately, everyone. But changes will be coming once again!

AllTray Wiki Closed
Posted on June 14, 2011
The AllTray wiki has been substantially damaged and is therefore now closed completely. I will replace it with additional static pages on this Web site at a future date. I am for the inconvenience, but I do not have the ability to maintain the wiki without help.

Major News!
As you can probably tell by the massively different page, something different is going on with AllTray. At the end of 2008, AllTray got a new maintainer, and development on the software has been resumed. AllTray has moved from SourceForge to Launchpad for project management, and now uses the Bazaar distributed revision control system. This means that AllTray has a more transparent and open development setup than ever before—you can check out a copy of the current source code and begin making modifications right away if you so choose.
AllTray is currently undergoing some massive updating and re-writing. If you would like to use AllTray, please download AllTray 0.70, the last version released by the previous maintainer, Jochen Baier, released under the GNU GPL v2.
AllTray’s future releases will have a new versioning scheme—a three digit one which is familiar to many existing users of free software, where the first number is the major version, the second number is the minor version (and even means stable, odd means unstable) and the third number is a revision number. The next unstable release of AllTray will be 0.7.1dev, which will be released after the current refactoring efforts are completed.
